Ingredients
3 Yolks
1/4 cup Sugar
2 cups Heavy cream
1 cup Milk
Cherry Flavoring
3 cups Fresh Cherries pitted and quartered
1/2 cup Sugar
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Lemon juice freshly squeezed
Directions
- Directions Ice Cream Base: Mix the yolks and sugar in a medium size bowl until incorporated. Place the heavy cream and milk into a small sauce pan and bring to a simmer. Slowly temper the hot liquid into the yolks while rapidly stirring. Return the liquid back into your sauce pan and return to a simmer while constantly stirring. Do not boil! Simmer until the mixture thickens about 10-15 minutes. Cool and save for later use.
- Directions Cherry Flavoring and Ice Cream: Place the cherries and the sugar in a medium and mix well. Let the cherries and sugar sit for a few hours or even better overnight if time permits. Strain the juice and place in a blender with half of the cherries. Puree the mixture then place into the ice cream base and stir well. Add in the vanilla and lemon juice and mix well. Place the mix into your ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
